Stiga Advantage Lite Review: Feature Analysis

Tabletop

Stiga Advantage Lite features a 12.7mm wooden tabletop
Stiga Advantage Lite features a 12.7mm wooden tabletop

Stiga Advantage Lite features a 12.7mm wooden tabletop, not ideal for recreational purposes. However, the bounciness is still fine, at least if you compare it with many other low-range tables.

Although its playability welcomes beginners, I notice that the bounce is loud. It makes sense since the heavier tabletops are, the quieter they will be during playing. Advantage Lite is proud of its lightweight as well, so this is a small minus that you have to accept if you yearn for other benefits the table offers.

Steel aprons

Regardless of tables’ thickness, don’t overlook the steel aprons. Even a 25mm table will soon go to the trash can without the capable steel aprons. What these guys do is that they keep the surface flat and even. If they are not thick enough or made of cheap materials, it’s unlikely that your tables will stay in good shape for long.

Stiga Advantage Lite has 0.75-inch steel aprons that adapt well with its thin tabletop. These steel aprons are also firmly attached to the table edge.

Net

The clamp-style net is not that great despite how well seen it is these days. It seems like producers are convinced that convenience should be a priority, and only clamp-style can serve that priority with its quick setup.

However, this model has several flaws. Its height and tension adjustment is a mess and can never be done as smoothly as its producer promised.

Despite my distrust of clamp-style net, I believe this feature has a minor role to play during the decision-making of a tennis table purchase. After all, even the current most highly-praised tables are stuck with this design.

Weight, Assembly, and Dimension

True to its name, Stiga Advantage Lite is only 52kg, surprisingly light. You can see how producers simplified many details to achieve this satisfying weight.

This lifts quite a burden off customers’ shoulders during assembly. Even though most Stiga tables have straightforward assembly guidelines, this task can be time-consuming depending on the tables’ weight.

With Advantage Lite, however, I only needed help from my wife. We completed this step in 15 minutes, just as advertised by Stiga.

About dimension, the table is 108″L x 60″W x 30″H, following the standards of regular tennis tables, so make sure to clear out a space for your table.

Table legs and Leg Levelers

Advantage Lite has 1.0-inch legs
Advantage Lite has 1.0-inch legs

Advantage Lite has 1.0-inch legs, fairly small compared to other standard tables. But because the weight is only 52kg, it definitely doesn’t need thicker legs.

This feature is also powder-coated, which preserves much better than paint.

Caster wheels

Advantage Lite’s caster wheels are only 2” and might raise questions about its efficiency. But again, it’s a lightweight table so that such small caster wheels would perform just fine. There’s a lock system to keep the table fixated during use and store to each wheel.

However, that also means the table can only move comfortably on a flat floor. If your floor is uneven, or if you intend to use the table outdoor, this table won’t be a wise choice.

Playback Mode

A recreational purpose table like Advantage Lite can’t do without the playback mode. This application is a great assistant for beginners eager to level up.

To activate the solo-player mode, all you need to do is fold up a table half and keep it in that position with a switch up of the safety latch system.

Nonetheless, for intermediate or professional players, the speed and bounce of solo-player mode is different from real matches and would not be that helpful as for newcomers.

Conclusion

My analysis leads to the conclusion that Advantage Lite’s biggest plus is its lightweight.

If you want to avoid the hassle of assembly and maneuverability as much as possible, this table won’t upset you.

However, if you emphasize more on playability, Advantage Lite’s thickness tabletop promises no such.
